How to pay with Octopus and receive a refund?


Note:

  • Octopus payment is only available at ShopBack Pay participating merchants.
  • To use Octopus Mastercard, please select Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Payment Steps

  1. Scan the ShopBack Pay QR code in-store
  2. Enter the payment amount
  3. On the checkout screen, select “Octopus” as the payment method
  4. Slide to confirm payment
  5. You’ll be redirected to the Octopus App

You may choose one of the following payment methods:

  • Octopus card in Apple Pay / Google Pay / Samsung Pay (e.g. Smart Octopus or Octopus on iPhone)
  • Octopus Wallet
  • Physical Octopus card (via NFC tap)

If your smartphone supports NFC, select “Physical Octopus Card” as the payment source in the Octopus App. The app will prompt you when to tap your card against the back of your phone. Once it detects the card and a “beep” sound is heard, the payment will be confirmed.

After the payment is completed, return to the ShopBack App.


Refund

Refunds will be processed within 2 working days, and a push notification will be sent via the Octopus App to update you on the refund status.

If you paid using Octopus Wallet, the amount will be refunded directly to your Wallet account.

If you paid using a physical Octopus card, you can collect your refund by:

  • Tapping the refund notification in the Octopus App → “Messages”, or
  • Visiting any designated Octopus Service Point and tapping your Octopus card.

If you paid using Octopus on iPhone or Apple Watch, Octopus on Android, Huawei Pay Octopus or Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay, you can collect your refund by tapping the refund notification in the Octopus App → “Messages”.

Please note: You must collect your refund within 90 days, or the refund will be automatically cancelled without further notice.
